The sculpture “Birth Machine” outside the HR Giger Museum in Gruyères was made by the artist in the 1990s after his famous 1967 painting – Giger considered overpopulation a serious risk to civilisation. Giger had to admit he made a mistake and that in reality, the baby’s head would be shot out of the pistol while the body with the baby’s own pistol will remain behind in the bullet casing.
