Nyon is a picturesque small town on the shores of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) in Switzerland with a white castle perfect for photos.
Nyon is mostly famous for its white castle (Châteu de Nyon) but it is a lively town with several museums (Roman, Leman, local history, a lovely old town center, pleasant views of Lake Geneva and the Alps, and excellent transportation links. The views often include Mt Blanc and on clear days even the Jet d’Eau in Geneva. Frequent fleamarkets on the lakefront promenade and cultural events add further interest for visitors and colorful photos.
Nyon has excellent transportation links to Genève and Lausanne and is a popular day-trip destination from these Swiss cities. Nyon is across the lake from Yvoire, a medieval-look small town in France. Frequent passenger ferry services connect these towns making it often easier to travel to Yvoire via Nyon than across land routes on the southern shores of Lac Léman.
